Crying Vessel is the latest project, brought to life in early 2011 by artist Slade Templeton; known for his work in The Chronologic (which sounds like Underworld or 90s acid house gone pop-crossover); his Electronic Industrial project Velox Music (which has been featured with KMFDM on Metropolis Records) and as one half of the Headlining DJ duo; Defunct!.
Crying Vessel’s debut album NECROZINE takes the best of dark synthetic rhythms and sultry vocals, gathering its influences from across the board; one can easily hear the unique musical approach deeply rooted in Trip-Hop and EBM infused with Darkwave and just a touch of swirling electronic driven rock. Crying Vessel embodies a whole new sound that is truly one-of-a-kind.
The Necrozine album features the talents of Eriq Johnson (from Miami Kidz and playwright composer from Germany).
Slade: “Necrozine was a concept I came up with when I was writing this album. Not to sound too “goth” or something along those lines, but I love horror movies. When I wrote my music, I like to strike a chord of fear into the listener or some kind of creepy attribute. Necro (means dead) and zine is playing on the words to be a magazine of the dead. Something a serial killer could read through to get his kicks.”
“The title track was a song I made from the view of a doctor that isn’t doing practices we would consider… well… “normal”. Some people were seeing it as a Necrophile.. which if you choose to do so, then that could work too. I just noticed how so many people love watching horror movies and getting their thrills at haunted houses… why would we tie every emotion possible with other forms of entertainment, but not try and put a little darkness or fear into our music? I like making the listener feel like they are there, next to the doctor while he was doing these twisted things… its sonically altering your perception…. almost like a dream state. ”
